By inspiring new members, fostering lasting relationships, and generating vital resources, we empower our branch and party to make a meaningful impactful difference in our community.
Meet our Committee.

Lionel Harman Chairman
I’ve had a varied career, spending 4 years serving in the Royal Navy, where I developed a strong sense of discipline and teamwork. Following this, I worked for 35 years as a Retail Manager for various supermarkets, honing my leadership and customer service skills. My passion for community service is evident through 15 years as a Community Campaigner, where I have tirelessly worked to improve the lives of those around me. Additionally, I have served as a Worthing Borough Councillor for 8 years, advocating for local issues and making a tangible difference in my community. My commitment to supporting the armed forces is highlighted by my role as the Borough Armed Forces Champion for 4 years. Most notably, I held the esteemed position of Mayor of Worthing for 2 years, where I proudly represented Worthing and its residents.

Rob Venn Vice Chairman
I have dedicated much of my career to both the private and public sectors, gaining valuable experience as a successful manager and developing a deep understanding of the challenges we all face today. My service at sea in the Royal Navy instilled in me a strong sense of duty, discipline, and pride in serving my country—values I now carry forward in my work with Reform UK to serve and support my community.
As a husband, father, and grandfather, I am committed to building a fairer and more just society, guided by the principles of country, community, and family. With determination and experience, I will work hard to ensure these values are at the heart of everything we do.

Michelle Walton Treasurer
I have experience working across both the private and public sectors. Running my own business highlighted for me the excessive levels of bureaucracy and red tape that make it increasingly difficult for small businesses to compete on a fair basis. Alongside this, my work in the education sector has given me direct insight into the challenges faced by schools, where funding for core essentials has declined, while increasing amounts are directed towards projects that do not address the real needs of pupils and teachers.
For these reasons, I believe Reform UK represents the only genuine choice for hardworking people. The party offers sensible, practical policies while ensuring that the most vulnerable in society are supported.
I am deeply passionate about protecting and strengthening our NHS, and I fully support the principle of healthcare being free at the point of use. As a mother and grandmother, I am particularly concerned about the future facing younger generations, and I see Reform UK as the last opportunity to secure a fairer and more sustainable future for them.
I will bring my years of experience, across both business and education, to this committee and branch to ensure Reform UK is well prepared for any upcoming election. The party’s values of decency, fairness, and accountability are ones I share, and I am committed to working hard to promote them at every level.

Karen Harman Campaign Manager
With over four decades of diverse experience in healthcare and community service, I have dedicated my career to making a positive impact. From my roles as a Nurse, NHS Manager, and Care Home Manager, to my recent tenure as a Borough Councillor and Mayoress, I have consistently demonstrated my commitment to serving others. Now, as a business owner and dog walker, I continue to engage with my community, ensuring that I understand and support their values and needs.

Sophie Reed Secretary
I was born and raised in Sussex and have been a resident of Goring-by-Sea for the past 10 years. I have been married since 2018 and I am a proud dog mum.
As a younger individual from a working-class background, I have a unique understanding of the everyday challenges that many people in our community face. My personal experiences have equipped me with the empathy and insight needed to represent our community effectively. I believe that many people feel disconnected from their representatives, and I am committed to bridging that gap by being a relatable, accessible advocate for all residents.
I am known for being highly organised, punctual, and a strong communicator, and I have been actively involved in political initiatives, especially since joining Reform in January 2025. I am passionate about making a positive impact locally, I believe in driving meaningful change and always bring energy and commitment to everything I do.

Eddy Rooke Branch Liaison Officer
I have lived & worked in Worthing for the last 43 years I spent 36 of those years working for HMRC in various roles. . I have been married for 44 years & have two grown up children & four grandchildren. I joined Reform UK. because I believe this nation needs saving, & I believe Reform UK is the only party capable of doing it. I believe the U.K. should be & remain a fully independent sovereign nation. As a sovereign nation we should not be forced to accept the jurisdiction of any foreign courts. As a practising Christian, I think Reform’s values of family, community & nation fully alinge with mine. On which point I believe in freedom in religion & belief, but I would like this nation to keep & maintain its broadly Christian heritage.

Jacqueline Carter Branch Publicity Officer
My career has been in human resources and in business management in both the private and public sectors. It’s given me an ability to work with, and get the best out of people from all walks of life.
I’ve never been involved in politics before but, like many people, I worry about the future for our children given the debts that are being racked up, the way Society has changed and the lack of incentive for people to work hard and achieve. That’s what’s motivated me to get involved and I believe Reform UK is the only party who will challenge the status quo and effect real change.
Having lived in Worthing for 40 years it saddens me to see the state of the town, the absolute chaos caused by poor planning for roads and the lack of support for local businesses who are being driven into the ground by decisions to fund vanity projects which nobody has voted for; money wasted. It feels like genuine concerns from residents about shoplifting, antisocial behaviour and groups flouting the law on open spaces are being ignored.
I’m delighted to be able to contribute to the committee and the branch. I’m a very driven person with lots of ideas and it’s fantastic to be working alongside others who reflect similar values.

NEWS:

Reform Worthing West will hold this diabolical council to account!
On 27JAN, residents can put their questions to the Council and Hemiko about the Heat Pump project. If you’ve been affected by the roadworks or run a town‑centre business, please make sure you submit your questions and attend the JOSC. This is our chance to speak up and hold the Council to account.
Details as follows:
‘Representatives from Hemiko will be attending Adur & Worthing Councils’ next Joint Overview and Scrutiny Committee (JOSC) meeting to brief the committee on the implementation of the first phase of the project and the upcoming works, as well as discussing communication with and support for businesses and residents in Worthing.
The meeting takes place from 6.30pm on Tuesday 27th January in the Gordon Room at Worthing Town Hall, and the committee is inviting residents and business owners to send in questions about the heat network for the public question time section.
Public questions on both topics can be submitted to the committee by emailing: democratic.services@adur-worthing.gov.uk by midday on Thursday 22nd January.’

As you can see it was a resounding success with 69 Reformers and friends/family filling all the available tables.
We were treated to some excellent Christmas fayre and held a jumbo raffle to raise much needed campaign funds for both Worthing West and BRAL branches.
People then danced the night away till well past midnight!
We have provisionally booked next year already for Saturday 19th December. Please get your tickets as soon as they are announced in September 2026.

A great time was had this morning up at Highdown where seven of us braved the chilly cold start to the morning to go on our planned dog walk. The weather was bright clear with some fantastic views from Eastbourne to the Isle of Wight the dogs all got on really well and of course so did the humans 😜. It was great to see new members Tony and April as well as Charles, Karen, Chelle, Tony and myself. Please keep an eye out on the website for future events.

Worthing Borough Councillor Charles James has joined Reform UK, saying only Nigel Farage’s party have the answers to the biggest problems facing the country.
Cllr Charles James has represented Durrington Ward on the council since 2018. Originally elected as a Conservative, he now serves as an independent councillor.
Cllr Charles James said, “Over time it has become apparent that the Conservative Party has left me, rather than the other way around. The Conservative Party has forgotten its core values and message. It failed to capitalise on Brexit, lost control of our borders, and raised taxes to the highest level since World War II.”
The trend of defections to Reform UK is one the party believes will continue to grow, which it says underscores the urgent need for real change in our political system, both locally and nationally.
Commenting further, Cllr Charles James said “this Labour Government has continued on their disastrous path to the detriment of the British people. Reform is the only party that will reinvigorate, revitalise, and rejuvenate our country. Reform will enable us to regain our pride and confidence in ourselves once more.”
Welcoming him, a Reform Spokesman said: “We’re delighted to have Charles on board. We welcome anyone who shares our vision for integrity, accountability, and meaningful change to join us.

Branch Events now confirmed:
Our street stall on Saturday 18th October was a great success engaging with local residents to understand what they have to say. The overriding message was that Worthing council need to be held to account for the total chaos of things such as homelessness on the streets, the heat work mess that is causing loss of income for our local businesses and the unchecked spending on vanity projects.

A fantastic day was had with many new members signed up on the day in Angmering, Ferring & Goring. We were well received and the overriding message was from the public that locally and nationally we need Reform UK.
